Widely known for his viral videos and songs, Sam Shackleton has developed a large touring fanbase across the UK and USA. He has earned a reputation for his energetic, rowdy and distinctive live performances. His powerful Scottish ballad singing recalls the style of Luke Kelly. He also delivers masterful interpretations of traditional folk music from Scotland, Ireland and the USA. Sam blends these influences with punk elements, original songs and deeply introspective lyrics. Whether moving audiences with a folk ballad or rousing rooms to sing and dance, the Scottish troubadour continues to gain global recognition. He has been consistently selling out headline shows across the UK and the USA. Inspired by Scotland’s musical heritage Sam Shackleton’s music is greatly inspired by the rich inter-connected musical oral traditions of Scotland, Ireland, and the United States. Strongly influenced by the 1960s folk revival, his unique sound is a mix of country, old time, traditional, folk, and blues with a Scottish spirit. He was born in Stirling and raised all over Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands. His music draws deeply on Scotland’s oral tradition, musical culture and landscapes. Sam has had major viral success with his hit singles on Spotify, such as “The Lone Prairie”, “The Overgate”, and “Wild Bill Jones”. His success has also stemmed from his numerous viral videos on Instagram and TikTok from where he has developed a large, passionate, and dedicated global audience.
