Those who have featured in the halftime show have included Shania Twain in 2003 and Kid Rock the following year. Country music stars have previously been favoured to perform the national anthem ahead of kickoff, rather than feature in the halftime show. Most recently, Chris Stapleton sang Star-Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl in 2023. Others who have performed the national anthem include the Dixie Chicks, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Mickey Guyton, and Faith Hill, who has been given the honour twice. However, the most important show in terms of country music was in 1994. The show, named “Rockin’ Country Sunday”, featured Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, and the Judds.
