Australian country newcomer Max Jackson recently performed at Country 2 Country (C2C) bringing foot-stomping anthems and double denim dreams to London. Maverick Country spoke to her after one of her performances. Fresh off the back of releasing her album, Dangerous in Denim, Max arrived in London ready to bring the party alongside her guitarist husband Jeremy Minett. Hailing from a small town in New South Wales, Max released her first album, Life of the Party in 2020. Since then, she won Australia’s biggest country music competition, Toyota Star Maker. She also became an ambassador for the nation’s biggest country music festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival. She has also performed at CMA Fest in Nashville and SXSW Sydney. Max cites Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Lainey Wilson and Kacey Musgraves as some of her biggest inspirations. How do you feel having just performed at C2C? It is so wild for me to be on the other side of the world and people were singing along to songs I’ve been releasing over the past year. It’s just so crazy to see that the internet has connected me with so many people before having my feet on the ground here. It is such a dream come true! What can you say about the atmosphere? I really love how everyone puts a lot of effort into their outfits; everyone was looking amazing! They had the energy and we loved that, as we always try to bring the fun and get people involved as much as possible too. What are your plans for the rest of your time here? I just love immersing myself as much as I can in the festival. Whenever I go to any festival anywhere in the world I am always going to the big nighttime festival shows. Last night, I went to see Zach Topp and that was amazing. I can’t wait to get out there and discover some new music. I am a music fan first so there’s going to be a lot of artists here that I have not heard of and I am hoping that I get to hear a bunch of UK artists, that would be amazing. What is next for you? We have just released my album which is exciting and we are about to go on tour for that back home. I am always working on new music. I did an EP called A Little More Country Sessions which is where I did the country version of Dancing Queen and things like that and it’s been really popular with fans, and I loved doing that. I am always writing music and releasing stuff. I am coming back to the UK next year with my full band and touring. We have only been to London but we are excited to get to lots of different parts of the country and meet fans.
