CattSue releases new album “Heartstrings and Highways”

Independent singer-songwriter CattSue has released her new album, “Heartstrings and Highways”, an 11-song collection rooted in family, memory, love, grief, faith and resilience. “Heartstrings and Highways” finds CattSue drawing from some of the most personal chapters of her life, transforming them into songs that speak to universal experiences of loving deeply, losing people who matter, raising a family, surviving difficult seasons and continuing forward. A personal journey through music Throughout the project, CattSue writes openly about the people who helped shape her life. Her parents, son and other important relationships become part of a larger story about how love continues to influence us through every stage of life. Among the album’s most emotional moments is “A Whisper on the Wind,” written in memory of CattSue’s mother. Drawing from childhood memories in National Park, New Jersey, photographs and the image of her beloved Mrs. Beasley doll, the song reflects on the connection between a daughter and a mother whose presence continues to be felt decades later. CattSue also pays tribute to her father on “More Time.” It reflects on treasured memories, conversations and the encouragement that continues to guide her. His words remain part of the emotional foundation of the album. Family and motherhood are equally important themes. “Heartstrings and Highways” examines the extraordinary love a parent carries, the sacrifices made for children, and the complicated emotions that can come with changing family relationships. The album also moves into themes of survival and self-reclamation. Songs including “Broken” and “In the Light” confront emotional pain while emphasizing the strength required to keep moving forward. CattSue writes from the perspective of someone learning to stand again while still carrying the scars of what came before. “In The Light” is a song about trafficking survivors,” CattSue says. “I’m a major advocate against human trafficking, and I wrote this for them.” Hope and resiliance Love, grief, motherhood, romantic devotion, military sacrifice, personal struggle and hope all intersect across the collection. These topics give “Heartstrings and Highways” the feeling of a musical memoir. It is about remembering the people who are gone, appreciating the people who remain, surviving the moments that threaten to break us and understanding that our stories continue to travel with us wherever the road leads. All songs written by CattSue, except “When the Clouds Come Home,” co-written with David Murphy.
