Kelsea Ballerini will be playing the VMA's

The country star took to social media to share her excitement about the upcoming performance, writing, "Performing at the @vmas! Tune in on September 12 on @MTV!!!"

Kelsea Ballerini is set to bring some country flair to the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards as she gears up for her debut performance at the event. What makes this even more special is that her performance coincides with her 30th birthday, happening on Tuesday, September 12.

The star-studded lineup for the event includes other notable performers such as Doja Cat, Lil Wayne, Shakira, and more.

While Ballerini joins a short list of country artists who have graced the VMAs stage in the past, including Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Kane Brown, her performance adds to the growing presence of country music in the traditionally pop-centric event. In 2022, Kane Brown made history as the first solo male country artist to perform at the VMAs.

It's worth noting that despite having categories for various music genres, the VMAs have not traditionally included a dedicated country music category.

Ballerini recently wrapped up her Heartfirst Tour on July 1, and she's been making waves with her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat project. The project, consisting of two EPs, delves into her personal experience of divorce from fellow singer Morgan Evans after five years of marriage. The second part of the project, Rolling Up the Welcome Mat (For Good), dropped on August 11, continuing to resonate with fans.

Make sure to catch the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live on MTV on Tuesday, September 12 at 8 PM ET, for what promises to be an exciting night of music and entertainment.
