Did you stay up late to follow it on social media? Or maybe you were scanning your Facebook wall this morning to see who got what. Either way, last night's CMA Awards were certainly one to be remembered… and for all the right reasons!

    * Chris Stapleton wins all three of his nominated categories

    * Girl Crush takes best song and best single

    * Luke Bryan and Miranda Lambert collect major awards

However you look at it, one guy stole the show. Relative newcomer Chris Stapleton was up for Newcomer, Male Vocalist and Album of the Year… and he took the lot. This is all the more incredible seeing as he's had hardly any radio airplay over in the states (though you've probably heard him on Chris Country), and because his songs are the opposite of the party/bro scene.

Stapleton also performed on the night - he duetted with Justin Timberlake and it's well worth watching. See the video on our Facebook page here. Many many congratulations, to Chris Stapleton, and to the CMAs for breaking away from the usual winners.

Little Big Town also had reason to cheer - the group won Vocal Group, and their controversial song Girl Crush took Best Song and Best Single. LBT were also credited on Miranda Lambert's song Smokin' And Drinkin', which won Musical Event of the Year.

Talking of Miranda, she took the Female Vocalist award, and in a short speech, said it was a highlight of an otherwise "tough year". We presume she's talking about her divorce from Blake Shelton, which was referenced, albeit fairly tactfully, by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood in their opening monologue.

Plus guess who joined Brad and Carrie them on stage, in a star trooper outfit? It was only William Shatner! The star of Brad's "Online" video claimed credit for Sam Hunt's style of half-speaking half-singing his songs.
