Watch Zach Top Try UK Beers

Country music rising star Zach Top recently sat down with Jack Hunter at the Countryline TV studios in London. Making his first professional trip to the UK, the singer arrived straight off a London pub crawl, bringing plenty of energy and candid stories to the studio.

The wide ranging interview covered everything from his preferences in British pub culture to his recent historic Grammy win and what fans can expect from his first European tour.

    A Proper UK Beer Tasting

To welcome Zach Top to the UK, Jack Hunter set up a traditional British beer tasting. While Zach admits to loving a simple American lager and occasionally starting a day off with a "breakfast beer," he was eager to dive into the local selections.

Jack introduced three distinct styles of UK beer, leading to a discussion about the differences between American bar culture and British pubs. Zach noted that he was fascinated by the traditional English method of serving ale from a cask without modern refrigeration or carbonation.

After sampling all three, Zach ranked them based on his preference for easy drinking beverages that you can enjoy throughout an entire evening.

    Zach Top's UK Beer Rankings

Rank Beer Brand Style Zach's Verdict
1 Hobgoblin Gold Ale His favorite of the bunch. He found it incredibly easy to drink and loved the flavor.
2 BrewDog Lager A solid, reliable choice that aligns with his love for cold, easy drinking lagers.
3 Beavertown Neck Oil Session IPA He appreciated the funky flavor but noted IPAs are too filling for a long night out.

    Upgrading from Clubs to Arenas

Zach has seen a massive shift in his career over the last year. He started early 2025 playing clubs with capacities between 1,500 and 2,000 people. By the fall, he was headlining major North American arenas.

While he loves the success, Zach confessed that he misses the wild, close up energy of smaller club rooms. He mentioned that playing in massive arenas introduces a physical gap between the stage and the crowd, which changes the dynamic of the live show. However, his favorite moment of the recent tour bridged that gap perfectly. He sold out two nights at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Having lived in Colorado for five years, Zach considered it a hometown show filled with friends and family.

    Crossing the Pond for C2C

Now, Zach Top is embarking on his first European tour, starting in Zurich, Switzerland. He expressed genuine surprise and gratitude that country music has such a dedicated fanbase so far from the genre's roots.

The European run will conclude with a massive milestone: headlining the Country to Country (C2C) festival. Jack Hunter pointed out that headlining C2C is a major achievement for any country artist, and Zach noted he is incredibly thankful to the festival organizers and the European fans for putting him in that position.

    A Historic Grammy Win

You cannot interview Zach Top right now without mentioning his recent Grammy win. He took home the award for Best Traditional Country Album. This was a historic moment, as it was the very first year the Recording Academy included this specific category.

Zach remained incredibly humble about the achievement. He admitted he felt he had no business winning a category that included country music legend Willie Nelson. What made the award particularly special for him was that it recognized his entire album project, rather than just highlighting his massive hit single, "I Never Lie."

Life on the Zach Top Tour Bus

When he is not on stage or trying out local beers, Zach likes to keep things traditional on the tour bus. His musical rotation heavily features country legends like Merle Haggard and Ronnie Milsap.

He also shared a favorite behind the scenes bus activity. The band loves to watch old, chaotic YouTube videos of Hank Williams Jr. specifically a notorious live performance where an incredibly intoxicated Hank Jr. stumbled through a 20 minute set before his manager pulled him off the stage, as well as a clip of him firing a lever action rifle during a performance of "Kaw-Liga."

From embracing British ale to remaining humble about his Grammy recognition, Zach Top proves he is taking his rapid rise to fame in stride.
