ACM Awards Set To Deliver One Of Their Biggest Nights In Years
The 61st Academy of Country Music Awards already feels like one of the most talked-about country award shows in recent memory.
From potential record-breaking wins to one of the strongest nominee lineups the ACMs have seen in years, Sunday night in Las Vegas has all the ingredients for a huge celebration of country music.
What makes this year’s ceremony stand out is the mix of returning favourites, breakthrough artists and major storylines all colliding at once. Established names like Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson remain at the centre of the biggest categories, while newer artists like Ella Langley and Zach Top continue their rapid rise.
The Entertainer of the Year category alone feels stacked, featuring Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Megan Moroney, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen and Lainey Wilson. It is the kind of lineup that reflects just how wide country music has become in 2026, blending traditional country voices with crossover stars and newer breakout acts.
There is also a sense that this year’s ACM Awards could become a defining moment for several artists.
Luke Combs has the chance to complete the ACM Triple Crown with an Entertainer of the Year win, while Chris Stapleton could continue climbing the all-time ACM winners list. Meanwhile, Lainey Wilson is aiming to continue her remarkable run after dominating recent ACM and CMA ceremonies.
Beyond the major awards, the nominations themselves highlight just how competitive country music has become. Song of the Year and Single of the Year are packed with some of the genre’s biggest songs from the last 12 months, including “Choosin’ Texas,” “I Never Lie” and “Somewhere Over Laredo.”
The ACMs have always leaned into celebrating both commercial success and songwriting, and this year’s nominee list feels like a strong reflection of where country music currently sits. Arena headliners, fast-rising newcomers and critically respected songwriters are all sharing the spotlight.
For UK country fans, it also feels like a reminder of how global the genre has become. Many of the artists nominated this year are either touring internationally, appearing at UK festivals or building huge streaming audiences far beyond Nashville.
With performances, emotional speeches and plenty of history potentially waiting to happen, the 2026 ACM Awards are shaping up to be far more than just another awards show.
