Five Incredible Kenny Rogers Songs

Kenny Rogers has sadly passed away, aged 81, however he has left us so much incredible music. We wanted to spotlight five of our favourite songs - hopefully you'll enjoy them as much as we do.

The Gambler

Kenny Rogers might not have been the first to record this song - previous artists included Johnny Cash - but it was Kenny's version that struck a chord with audiences worldwide. We never get to know The Gambler's name, but his advice is well known - you gotta know when to hold em.

This was one of the first songs to cross over to the pop charts, thanks to Kenny's vocals.

Islands In The Stream

Possibly the best known country duet of all time, Kenny and Dolly Parton, the song actually has UK roots as it was written by The Bee Gees who hail from Manchester. It topped the charts in many countries worldwide, and got to number 7 in the UK.

Coward Of The County

Written by Roger Bowling and Roger Ed Wheeler, this track was a number one for Kenny Rogers in 1980, including six weeks at the top of the Irish charts. It's been covered by many people including, incredible, Alvin And The Chipmunks. But here's the Kenny version...

You Can't Make Old Friends

Kenny and Dolly may be best known for Islands In The Stream, but we're big fans of this track too. It was the title track of Kenny's 2013 album, and is a beautiful track. The song also appears on Dolly's album Blue Smoke, and their performance was nominated for a Grammy.
